Shout Out!

Just want to thank the Kuna Lion's Club for all the hard work they do, for FREE, screening hearing and vision for our elementary kids.

I just spent the day with them in their nifty motor home. These people have regular jobs, problems, etc., but still find time to volunteer hundreds of hours in their community.

It was a pleasure spending the day with them and if you get a chance, thank a Lion (or Lioness!) sometime.

Thai Addiction!

I'm addicted to red curry chicken. I crave it day and night. I dream about it. The spices, the explosion of flavors, the sweet sweet goodness of coconut milk....OMG. I don't even want to know how many calories or fat grams are involved. The only reason I don't eat it everyday is a) Kuna has no Thai food and b) it's $9.

I've had it twice this week. I wonder if I have time to run into town today before we leave for Salmon....hmmmmm?

Cheers to Family!

Last night was one of the funnest nights out I've had in awhile. We went out with Jeff's brother Todd and his adorable wife Becca, had Thai food, hit the theatre for James Bond (can Daniel Craig be more attractive?) and then visited our fave dive for shuffleboard. Maddi stayed with our boys and they played Rock Band, made smores in the oven and enjoyed spending cousin time together. I am thankful for our wonderful family. We can count on each other and that's all that matters!

New Beginnings

Some of you know already that I quit my job on December 30th. There were several reasons, some more valid than others, but they all weighed in my decision.

The travel business is very slow right now and I was being pushed into the back office to do bookwork and reconcile credit card statements. It was mind numbing. I also had not received a pay increase in over 16-months (I was still at the rate I started at!).

That may seem picky to some. I should just be lucky I have a job right? I know. But after thinking about driving to Nampa, eating out, new clothes, gas, etc., for what I was making verses being here for the kids and having our household run smoothly, it just didn't make sense to keep doing what I was doing.

I also had a personal issue I was dealing with the entire month of December that ended better than I thought it was going to. I won't go into all the details, but I had a stalker. It escalated the final week of December to the point where the police had to be involved. It was scary and creepy and Jeff wanted to use his new shotgun. Things were tense. I decided I just didn't need all of that and removed myself from the situation. Our boys never caught on to what was happening, and that is how we want to keep it.

So, to replace my meager income, I am going to do substitute teaching for the Kuna school district. It will be an adventure, I'm sure!

May all of you have wonderful new beginnings. Let's put the past behind us and move on. Also....please take down the Christmas stuff! I just can't stand seeing it anymore!

Seventy Some Odd Minutes...

That's how long it took me to shovel the driveway and sidewalks just now. Are you kidding me? Usually Jeff does all the shoveling, but today, I had nothing but time. So, I paraded on out there with my pretty little scarf and my fashionable orange gloves to do a little shoveling.

Ok. The lower back felt it first. Then my arms. I got the giggles. I hurt myself several times. It was still snowing and covering up my hard work! I think the neighbor man down the way was very entertained. I pretended not to see him.

After awhile, I was in the rhythm. My muscles felt warm and didn't hurt anymore. I took off my scarf. I hummed. I did a good job!

Now, when Jeff arrives home, he will see a huge snow bank that he will have to break through to get onto the driveway. Oops. I think I should leave snow shoveling to Jeff. I am much better at sitting by the fire with a good book. I do that INCREDIBLY well!

Party Like Your're 9!

My baby Benjamin is 9 today! He is a bright shining ray of sunshine in my life. Ben is smart, charming, funny and a lot of work! I love him.

Nine years ago, I remember getting up around 5am to go to the hospital. The trees, telephone wires, houses, etc. were all covered in frost and ice. It looked like a scene right out of Dr. Zhivago. Later that night when it was just me and him, he grabbed my finger and I knew we'd be okay.

We are headed to Game World today with his buddies to party. He ordered a chocolate cake with chocolate creme filling and butter cream chocolate frosting. Yummo!

I know in a few years, he'll be a teenager and starting his adult life shortly after that. I'm going to soak up these times and treasure every minute I can with him!

And it Starts Anew

Happy New Year! I hope all of you are safe and had a great time last night. We watched War of the Worlds. That was scarier than I thought it would be! We ate shrimp dinner and had fun with our boys. Later, Jeff and I read scary books. It's kind of our tradition. He started a new Stephen King one and I started "Murder on Clam Pond." We are so exciting!

Today, we all slept till 10:30am. We were astounded the day was half gone. We decided to watch Gremlins--and that was also scarier than I thought it would be. It's really graphic. The kids loved it!

I took a long bike ride with Benjamin. It was refreshing and very cold. He is so funny and clever. I don't know where he gets half the stuff he comes up with. I love being the only girl in the house, but the other morning, I said something like, "I am surrounded by waaaay to much testosterone!" And Ben says, "You mean testicles?" Yep. That's exactly what I mean!
